This is achieved through

Food Safety Compliance:

Operating under and complying with global food safety management systems including:

  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practises)
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point)
  • Our food safety management system is FSSC Certified

Training:

Much emphasis is placed on continuous staff training and their understanding of the importance of having health, hygiene and safety standards complied to at the highest level at all times.

“On the job” hygiene and food safety training is a pre-requisite for all personnel and is fully endorsed by Management.

Kernel Specifications:

As a SAMAC accredited handler, Mac-Eden follows the specifications for size styling and quality parameters as laid out by SAMAC (South African Macadamia Association)

Traceability:

Every carton packed is labelled providing full traceability for the quality kernel contained within that carton. Particulars such as grower identification, packing and processing dates, Style of kernel, Best before date and Country of Origin are clearly displayed.

Laboratory Analysis & Microbiological Testing:

To meet relevant food safety standards and specifications, all our testing for microbiological and chemical analysis is outsourced to accredited SANAS certified laboratories. Quality assurance is given to our customers in this manner with the relevant Certificate of Analysis being provided with each purchase.

All food contact surfaces are swabbed monthly to ensure we meet hygiene specifications.
The water is also tested and analysed once annually to meet SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) 241 water standards.
